Playground

Test an agent before people rely on it. There are two ways: the playground on the agent page, and Try Now, which opens a real chat.

Open the playground

1. 1Open the agent in Studio > Agents.
2. 2Click the chat button in the bottom corner of the page.
3. 3Type a message and send it. The agent answers with its current settings.

• The playground works as soon as the agent has a system prompt and a model, before you activate it.
• You need Can use access or higher.
• Expand makes the panel larger; Collapse shrinks it again.
• Clear playground deletes the test conversation so you can start fresh.

If the agent is not configured yet, the playground tells you so. Click Configure and fill in the missing panels first.

Try Now

Try Now on the agent card opens a new chat with this agent already selected. Use it to test the agent the way people will use it, with attachments, the approval mode and your library.

What to test

• Ask the questions your conversation starters promise to answer.
• Ask something only your data can answer, and check the sources it cites.
• Ask something outside its job, and check that it declines or stays on topic.
• If you attached tools, ask it to act. Approval cards show exactly what it would do before anything runs.
• If you turned on Graph Generation or Image Generation, ask for a chart or an image.

Change and test again

Keep the playground open while you change the configuration. Save a panel, then send the next message; the agent answers with the saved settings. Clear the playground when earlier messages would skew the test.
